Will Smith’s Amazing Training for Movies

If you saw Will Smith in I am Legend (great movie by the way), you witnessed how great of shape he got himself in for the part.  Although very muscular, Smith actually dropped 20 lbs for the film and was weighing in at 185.  Six years prior to this, Smith was in Ali and bulked up from 185 to 220 training 5 days a week for 6 hours.  His workout consisted primarily of boxing, weight lifting, and running.

After Ali, he lost his muscle but put it back and then some for his lead role in iRobot.  His bench press shot up to 385 lbs!

The results Will Smith has been able to accomplish with his on again, off again style are nothing short of amazing.  Still, he is making amazing happen with by training so intensely in compacted training periods.

I would expect anyone to have some down time after cramming in so many high intensity workouts, but it does sound like Will does drag when there’s no part on the horizon.  If he had less of an after movie lull, he might qualify for some professional sports.
