Listen to a podcast, win a t-shirt

Frequent commenter and Slacker Manager super support Phil Dourado shared his management tip on Nick McCormick’s Management Tips podcast. His tip: Ask More Questions.

Go visit Nick, listen to Ask More Questions, post a comment, and win a Be Good Ventures t-shirt. Nick was nice enough to send me one of these, which I will proudly wear when I go to the gym and work out, something I need to do WAY more of now that winter is here in Milwaukee.

About the tip:

Asking questions is a GREAT tip for managers.

If you don’t know how to do something, ask a question.

If you don’t know the answer to something, ask a question.

If you want feedback, ask a question.

DON’T ask questions if you don’t care what your team has to say.

DON’T ask questions if you’re not going to listen to what the other person has to offer.

Asking questions is a sign of strength, not of weakness.

Listen to Ask More Questions.

Simple.

  1. CK says:

I read one time that the best five leadership friends are Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How.

    I’m a fan of questions and I lead a question-driven life.

Questions are powerful. I like to use cutting questions — questions that cut deep to reveal an insight.

If you think of thinking as asking and answering questions, then you’re ability to think is only constrained by your ability to ask the right questions to the right people, including yourself.

One of my favorite simple questions is “how to make the most of the situation?” … or … “how can I be more resourceful?”

It is like Anthony Robbins has said… If you want better answers ask better questions…
