Window Washing is Not Writing

December 29, 2005 by Anne Wayman

Was that me talking about writing discipline? So why am I more interested in washing windows today than in writing? I don’t have an answer… somehow in the middle of winter I’m spring cleaning!

My desk is de-cluttered, the paperback books are ready to go to the thrift store, and my big window sparkles. Heck, I even got the hooks in the bathroom installed.

I’ve done a minimum of writing – that is, I did the blog I’m paid for, and I’m doing this one, but I haven’t tackled any of the big projects I’ve got going… not today.

One of the advantages of writing for years is I trust my process. I know an occasional day of not writing isn’t the end of my writing career. But it took a long time to get there. I know that tomorrow and the next day and most of the next days I’ll be working on the big projects.

Write well and often,
