Steve Ballmer who is making his debut as a keynote speaker at Computer Electronics Show (CES) took the opportunity to announce that Windows 7 is currently available to MSDN and Technet subscribers. I haven’t checked my MSDN page as I am still happy with my Lenovo S10 powered by Windows Vista Ultimate. Yup, that’s what I did with my tiny computer. Anyways, Steve announced that the beta version would be available to the public this friday.
The news was expected but people were more excited about a Zune smartphone announcement which did not materialize. Steve however talked about Windows Mobile which may be a prelude to their official announcement on Zune smartphone.
Windows 7 is said to be faster and suited for netbooks compared to Windows Vista which required a lot of processing power.

I operate a business and have no time or desire to retest my entire operations on a new OS. Therefore, I will not plan on upgrading to Windows 7 anytime soon.
I escaped the Vista fiasco because I refused to upgrade machines that worked perfectly well with XP. My operations run smoothly and have no issues. In this economy why would any business owner want to subject themselves to unnecessary risk.
