Windows 7 is Built for Gamers

My cousin was at my place last night and while we were chatting he noticed my laptop had a different operating system. According to him, he thought it somehow looked like Windows Vista with a theme pack or add-on from a third party. That was the time I told him it was Windows 7 and not Windows Vista with a skin or add-on. I went on by saying that Windows 7 is Microsoft’s latest operating system and it was going to be released on October 22 to the consumer. My cousin’s first question was whether the operating system was good enough for games since he spends his night playing video games on his Windows Vista powered desktop.

Is Windows 7 a good operating system for gamers?

Windows Vista had a lot of promise when it first came out, together with DirectX 10, Vista was touted as a powerful operating system for gamers. It was expected to be the operating system standard for all gamers taking the game to the next level. Vista and DirectX10 did function very well, however, problems with hardware compatibility, application stability was experienced and the Vista problem quickly help forget how good the operating system was for gamers.

Things have changed since then, Microsoft has fixed all the problem related to Windows Vista and even though Windows 7 looks like Windows Vista Service Pack 3 or 4, the latest operating system doesn’t have much problems and its performance for gaming is no longer put aside.

Windows 7 is introducing Direct3D 11 which is a subset of DirectX that handles graphics processing in three dimensions. Windows 7 has polished and dramatically improved multi-core CPU processing which boost gaming performance many levels up. Reports have been posted that Windows 7 performance has improved in the 5% mark for both 32-bit and 64-bit computing platform.

Conclusion

Vista is a very good operating system for gamers and had it not been of the problems it faced, Vista should officially be regarded as an OS built for gamers.  Windows 7 has corrected these things, carried over the power of Vista on gaming, and has elevated it with its multi-core processing, and with the introduction of Direct3D 11. Windows 7 is definitely an operating system built for gamers.
