Windows Desktop Search

I’ve still been unable to install Windows Desktop Search, in coordination with Outlook 2007. I keep getting an error when I try to install. I’m wondering if any of you brilliant people who’ve also been testing out Outlook 2007 along with me.

I get the following two error messages during the install.

Windows Desktop Search Error 2

Windows Desktop Search Error 1

After I click on “OK” on that last one, the program immediately stops the installation process and reverses everything it’s started.

Any ideas out there anyone?

I believe it is because Outlook 2007 (and OneNote 2007) want you to use WDS 3.0 beta instead of the full Windows Desktop Search. WDS 3.0 only indexes Outlook 2007 (and only OneNote 2007). I don’t think you can use both WDS 3.0 AND full Windows Desktop Search. In my case, since I use the full WDS daily, I opt NOT to download the optional WDS 3.0 and click “Remind me later” every time I open Outlook and OneNote 2007. Hope that helps.
