Windows Vista 2009

More information on Windows Vista.

Microsoft corporate vice-president of development Ben Fathi said the next version of Windows would be released in the latter part of 2009.

The major improvements would revolve around things they should have included in Windows Vista Release this 2007 namely: file system WinFS, UEFI Bios replacement, advanced security features.

The other developments in the pipeline are the integration of pieces to SQL Server database, ActiveX Data Objects, etc.

I don’t think this version would take longer and suffer all the delays as it took Windows Vista. This feature set does not represent a large re-architecture of the platform but would fall into a normal iteration of development. The underlying architecture of Windows Vista would be used and add all these features which should not cause much delay.

One notable thing I noticed is the possible integration of SQL Server database which may add to the license cost of the software. On the other hand they may provide with no additional cost since they would be integrating that in their business application suite that makes it easier for people to integrate personal and business usage of the operating system.

i think they should trash the whole windows vista idea! nothing is compatible with it, it takes up way too much hard drive space, it freezes up constantly, it is useless for anyone with a medium to large business, it is useless for anyone using music recording or producing software and hardware! they released it too early and shoved it down our throats! you cant even downgrade back to xp from vista. it renderts most of the computers original hardware useless ie webcams, wireless cards, drives, etc. i have had to spend thousands on repairs and needless software because i had to buy a new lap top and all you can get is vista and there are no drivers made by anyone to support vista. do they really think an updated vista will solve anything? already, most people i know, including myself are switching to mac! i couldnt give my vista laptop away! i hate it, the stores are saying that this seems to be the general consensus. what really stinks is that if you do reformat the hard drive and install windows xp like i did…as well as alot of otherr people, microsoft isnt offering any drivers for xp! now my wireless is useless, i get no sound without going through an external interface, my web cam is useless, and none of my usb hardware devices are compatible!!another stinker is that you cant even have a lap top custom built. all they offer noe is vista!!! so, if you are in the music recording or production business, your only choice if you absolutely must buy a new computer is to buy a mac pro! bill gates is already the richest man, why did he have to get greedy and corner the whole market? i t

I have an xp desktop and a vista laptop, i have found that all my programs (bar an old version of nero) and games work, with no problems. My printer/scanner also works fine, along with even an old copy of photoshop, cs1. Its true that some companies have been slow off the mark in producing drivers etc but that is definately changing now since all new machines from major sellers now come with vista. As for the above comment, the mac has ALWAYS been the system for those interested in music production, its never been the pc. The whole problem with vista for most people is that on the outside, it doesnt feel very different to xp, aside from some new desktop utilities, so users struggle to work out why they should upgrade. The next version of vista comes out at the end of 2009, which should correct any major issues current users may have.

Windows Vista has been working well on my Toshiba laptop but has covered lots of space on the hard disk and this causes the laptop to run slowly at times. I hope this new Windows (2009) would work better than the previous windows. Keep ballin……..

In the last 3 to 6 months vista and ms office updates have slowed my dell 1330 xps with 4 gb of ram to a halt. Recently reformatted and reinstalled, updated, etc… same stuff. Just bought my wife a entry level imac and the thing blows the doors off my computer which has 4x the power and costs about the same more… Not sure what to do maybe reinstall again and not install any updates? Seems like the most recent vista updates have really sucked the life out of my rock star computer. I was happy with the performance of vista but it not getting any faster. I have always hated macs but it may be time.

Every time I try to open an old PDF document I am prevented in opening them. The computer says open it under REGETET. Trend micro my virus sofware says don’t. It has only started since I loaded acobat reader 9. I am disappointed and the only work around is not to use my PC and use my son’s MAC to open up the old PDF docs. Could you please provide some advice?

    1. Any new program that runs on XP runs on Vista. STOP SAYING PROGRAMS DON’T RUN ON VISTA BECAUSE THEY DO!

    2. YOU CAN BUY A NEW COMPUTER WITH XP. you don’t have to get vista. you have to pay ussually to downgrade a new computer but its usually only a 100 bucks so if you want xp you can have it.

    3. If you already own xp from your old computer you can install it on your new computer for free. (free downgrade)

    4. You can get drivers for XP from your computer manufacturer.

    5. If you get a new comp w/ windows vista it ussually comes with a free upgrade to windows 7 (when it is released, which is very soon)

    6. It takes up a lot of hard drive space but not a huge ammount. Who has less than 250Gbs these days?

    7. It makes you computer harder to exploit. Your comp will last longer with vista than XP.

    8. It indexes all your files like a mac

    9. I ran vista ultimate on a laptop with 2 gigs of ram and 2gh processor just fine for a year so no it didn’t slow down your laptop with 4 gigs of RAM unless you just have a shitty CPU.

    10. You can’t get a Max 4X as fast as your Dell for the same price. That is just untrue.
