Windows Vista Editions and Feature Set

Microsoft comes with different editions for Windows Vista namely: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate.
Among the features listed, I question where the protection against hardware failure is placed which happens to be in the Ultimate edition. Hardware protection should be a basic and important feature of Windows Vista and should be included in lower editions like the Home or Business Premium.
