Winter Olympics at Google Video

The Opening Ceremony for 2006 Winter Olympics (Torino, Italy) is officially underway.

Hi! My name is YC. I am the Chief Resident Technocrat from the Technocrat Soapbox. I would like to thank Mr. Jeremy Wright for the opportunity to blog on the 2006 Winter Olympics.

An avid Snowboarder myself living in California, I will definitely be keeping my eyes glued to the TV for Snowboarding and Skiing events. I am also very interested in Bobsleding and Figure Skating.

Pre-Winter Olympics Video

Incidentally, I found some very interesting pre-Olympics videos at Google Video. I have no doubt that, in the days to come, we will get to see some recorded events as well.

Just FYI … when I try to play any of those videos .. I received this error message >> “This video is not playable in your country” (here in Canada). It must be part of those 24.5 hour day broadcasts! :) Only in USA ~

I’m getting the same message! Too bad because they really seem to have alotta clips… I was just starting the “Curl Girls visit Norway” video;)

Hmm…it must be a copyright/DRM issue. I’m surprised that Google is not sharing the videos with other countries.

I’m watching “Curl Girls visit Norway” as I type and one of them said “Smell the trunk?”  Funny, ehh?

  4. Vincent says:

    Hey, That isnt funny!

I apologize.  I wanted to present a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ response to your comment but only realized much later that it could be construed as a rude remark.

I apologize.  I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

  6. Vincent says:

Haha, no i was just kidding!

A fellow countryman of mine, Michael Doeff at “Mad Dog in the Fog” have also been complaining about Google Video.

It looks like Google has too much on its plate these days. It would benefit everybody if the company stuck to only a couple of projects and made quality a top priority.

  8. Andy says:

IP blocking for particular countries isn’t unusual. It depends if the Google video content is licensed from a US TV co?

The BBC makes certain programs available on its website for UK users only, for example.
