Wipaire Wipline Floats for Cessna 172
Wipaire has announced that nearly all Cessna 172 aircraft can now be equipped with their new floats. They have received an STC for both straight or amphibious floats and are applicable to almost all Cessna 172 aircraft with 150, 160, 180, or 210 hp engines.
“This allows [Cessna] 172 owners more options when looking to add floats. Before, the Wipline floats were merely certified on a handful of Skyhawk models; now virtually any and all, including the [Cessna] 175 can take the Wips,” says Wipaire owner Bob “Wip” Wiplinger. “It’s been a long time coming for these patient customers who prefer to keep their favorite Skyhawk versus having to trade up to something new.”

Hello, I have a 1964 Cessna 172E with a 0300 145hp continental. Is there an STC for my plane with that motor for the floats and, have you ever heard of having a floatplane with that engine size, I know it is a little small for a floatplane application
I own the very same plane and have used it on floats. It works fine with twopeople ,full fuel and fifty lbs. of lugage. Very forgiving and a beautiful and economical machine. You need to use common sense like with any machine as you learn it’s strengths. I flew the Arctic with mine.
