WPT Ladies Night 2008

Watched some of the WPT Ladies Night event for 2008 on GSN the other night, got some angry remarks back from my also-watching girlfriend when I made derisive comments about their play. She asked, “When is the men’s only poker event?” and I said “That’s all the other ones,” not even being fully serious…

But then I watched the Ladies event. Pretty much it was standard raising with normal hands, a lot of folding to bets, almost no ‘out of the box’ play. Just boring boring boring.

Sorry ladies, but there really just aren’t any innovators of the game, any that I see at least, who are making weird poker moves like a lot of the well known male players. I’m sure there are some out there, such as Annette Olbrestad and so on, but for the most part, poker seems male dominated.

Here’s a clip from another women’s event where the announcer talks about how well they are getting along, all wearing pink Borgata hats, and after hearing that I really don’t think you can fault me for any naysaying.

I would like to see the Grinder in a pink Borgata hat.
