WPT Thoughts?
The new season of WPT started off last night, pretty decent action I guess, though a little stilted maybe. Phil Ivey couldn’t get a hand. Darrel ‘Gigabet’ Dicken looked frighteningly on the verge of death from too many hours out of the sun. That guy is probably a good argument for why not to play online poker. Except, well, he’s ballin, I’m sure. Though only in the money sense.
Hopefully WPT picks up from there.
I don’t know, poker programming just ain’t what it used to be. Or maybe I’ve just seen the same thing too many times. Or maybe there are too many “poker-types” on screen now.
Whatever the case, we need a new season of High Stakes Poker.
My skin shrivels a little just at the thought that the Best Damn Poker Show is still on the air.
And those Phil Hellmuth commericals where he’s talkin about ‘pushin it to the limit’ in his racecar gear? I gag a little now.
And to think I used to think Hellmuth was cool and pissed. Eesh.
I caught the tail end of it. I thought the heads up play was pretty interesting and fun to watch. I enjoy tournament poker more because it is not all mathematics. There is some gamble to it compared the pure math of cash games.
phill Lakk would be one of the worst players to watch if he wasn’t so goofy because he is a purely math kind of guy.
Watching a person call because of odds in every situation gets boring quick.

Hey there is always poker after dark to watch. I hear it’s a new episode and featuring the best player of all time and/or space: Howard Lederer.
At least Helmuth is an asshat with freakish poker skills.
