This is one the lamest ads for writers I’ve come across yet:

You can be very passionate here. Your New Writing can be published immediately. Ask for help and help others. All of this with absolutely no cost.
Google Author Nation
- it’s NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
- Compensation: no pay
I would think there would be no cost. No cost to the writer and no cost to the publisher apparently. Since when does passion equal no pay anyway? I guess the fact that we’re passionate and our New Writing (written in uppercase cause it’s so special) will be published immediately is compensation enough. Extra added perk is asking for help and getting help from others. All at no cost. I ask you, does life get better than this?

I had the head of a blog syndicator (not this one) tell me he looked more for passion than for an emphasis on money. Apparently, he has learned to live without it. I was in awe. He was offering a hundred a month for two posts a day or something–I guess “passion” would fuel the writer’s productivity.
It’s too bad my landlord has a passion for my rent money. And my utility companies have a passion for getting paid. And my stomach has a passion for food.
Otherwise, I could work for the sheer joy of it, like these jerks tell me I should.
Author Nation is owned by Infinity Publishing, a POD publisher (aka vanity press). I would imagine anyone who signs up with them will be inundated with sales pitches to self-publish through them.
Maybe there are stupid people out there.
