The arrogance of some of the people who post ads at Craigslist is mind boggling:

Im looking to start up a small company the creates press release kits for musicians, artist, models, and actors. I need someone who can write!! Please contact me asap.
- Location: queens
- it’s NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
- Compensation: in due time…
What does “in due time” mean? You need someone who can write and promise payment “in due time?” Tell me again how this will convince me I want the job?

Just another idiot who thinks all it takes to start a company is to get other people to do the work for free. It doesn’t take planning, financing or any knowledge of the business you wish to go into–just a bunch of suckers whose most fervent desire is to see their name in print. Although I’ve never seen a bylined press release, so inexperienced wannabes who apply for this “job” should be aware of that. You’ll not only get no money, but no glory… only the boss will get any of that. She’ll be charging people hundreds of dollars for your work, and you may or may not get paid a fraction of that haul “in due time.”
How about in the “due time” on my invoice?
Imagine accepting a job and telling the client they’ll get the finished work “in due time”?
I’d love to know how this want ad worked out for the person who posted it. Just curious to know if anyone fell for it…..
