WWE and the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Since 1980 the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted over 165,000 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions around the world. The child gets one wish. They can ask for anything and Make-A-Wish will try to make it come true. It is their personal wish and with its fulfillment comes joy, happiness, and an indelible wonderful memory for the child and their family.

The WWE’s connection with Make-A-Wish began in 1982, dating back nearly to the charity’s inception. Since then the WWE has been involved over 5,000 wishes. It’s a perfect partnership. Kids love wrestling and wrestlers, for the most part, are generous, caring, down-to-earth guys.

Naturally, the good guys are the most Wished-for. Kids don’t just ask to see “a wrestler”. They ask to see their personal hero. The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently honored John Cena for his 100th wish fulfillment. His typically generous response:

We’ll have the real celebration when we hit 1,000. It’s not about the people who grant the wishes. It’s about the people who get the wishes.

The WWE recently produced a minute-and-a-half video spot highlighting their Make-A-Wish partnership and how they brought 50 Make-A-Wish kids, one from each state, to Wrestlemania XXIV this year in Orlando, Fla. WWE’s commitment to Make-A-Wish is not restricted to one-off events. Vince and Linda McMahon serve on Make-A-Wish’s National Advisory Council and wrestlers grant wishes year round and hundreds of nation-wide events.

my aunt is 79 years old and is a bedridden patient for almost 15 years and the one thing she loves the most is her wrestling. We get her up to shower, eat and brush her teeth and then we turn on the wrestling dvd for her to watch. She has been a loyal fan when wrestling first priemered all the way up untill this day. It is her dream to meet her favorite wrestlers one day. I wanted to know myself if dreams really come true. She is a collector of wrestling dvd’s and enjoys her entertainment. Thank you and please write back.

Hi Francis, I’m not sure how the WWE is working this these days. This site isn’t affiliated with the WWE so your best bet would be to check around the web and find out what they are doing with the Make A Wish Foundation these days. Best wishes.
