WWE Releases Sandman

Today the WWE announced the release of Sandman:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar and ECW Original Sandman as of September 11. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors.

Though not a major player on Raw I was coming to like Sandman in his role as an enforcer and tough guy on Raw as it seemed to fit with his background yet still fit into just about any storyline they needed it in. I hope they are able to find someone else to fill this role as it seemed to be one of the few things I felt Raw was doing right of late.
