Xbox 360 Chip Upgrade Coming Soon

May 2, 2007 by Ingrid Diaz

The Xbox 360 Elite hit stores last week, but that’s not stopping Microsoft from continuing their console upgrades. The next gen console is getting yet another revision with the highly anticipated inclusion of the 65 nanometer processor chip. The chips have been put into production and should be ready sometime in the fall.

The chips will be replacing the CPU and the GPU, making the console quieter and more energy-efficient, which should make many Xbox fans happy campers.

The question remains, though, what Microsoft’s plan for the chips distribution is. Will they release a Xbox 360 Elite II or will they simply include it in future Xbox 360 consoles instead?

Guess we’ll see.

I refuse to buy another 360 until the 65n chips come out. So when I buy another one this fall, how will I know if it has the new chip in it or not?
