Xbox 360 Hits the New Zealand Road

This doesn’t affect me at all, but isn’t it good to be informed and cultured? Yes. Yes it is. So here’s a bit of gaming news from the other end of the world: New Zealand. If you’re in New Zealand, then … aren’t you glad you’re here? Yes. Yes, you are.

The Xbox 360 is hitting the road in NZ starting March 2nd, and as long as you’re over the age of 16 in mind, body, and soul, you’ll be eligible to win some neat Xbox 360-related prizes. You can go here to register, and if you’re lucky, you might be selected as a VIP, and then the sky’s the limit for your joy and excitement on that glorious day when the Xboxmobile illegally parks near you.

Microsoft’s product marketing manager, Tom Hunt, says: “We’re so excited about Xbox 360 and the amazing line-up of games at launch, we figure there’s only one way to kick it all off – a quintessential Kiwi roadtrip.

“Kiwis love Xbox – New Zealand has been one of the world’s most successful territories for Xbox, with more than 140,000 consoles selling to date. We’re touring the country in the giant Xbox 360 bus, taking it to the streets to give more people the opportunity to get the Xbox 360 experience.”

Two versions will be available – the Xbox 360 at about $719.95 and the Xbox 360 Core System at $549.95.

The Xbox 360 includes the console, 20GB hard drive, media remote, wireless controller, component high-definition cable and Ethernet cable. Xbox 360 Core System delivers the same as Xbox 360, but starts with the basics and lets you expand at your own pace. The Xbox Core System includes the console, composite AV cable and wired controller.

Mmm, kiwis.

    Mmmm. sexy bus :D

  2. Cal says:

Well if they’ve sold 140,000 XBox’s they’ve saturated the market already with that model, so no one is gunna buy the 360!

I nearly fell off my chair at the price, but then remembered it’s going to be $640 odd in Aus for the top spec model, which is about the same given the exchange rate between here and NZ.
