Xbox Live Hits 60% Mark

Looks like Microsoft’s predictions came true after all. Back in September, the company revealed their predictions that Xbox Live users on the Xbox 360 would reach 50%. At the time, only 10% of original Xbox users were taking advantage of the online service, so it comes as a surprise that Xbox (360) Live subscribers have now reached 60%.

Speaking to Gamespot, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg said “We were like, ‘well, it’s the hardcore gamers, this is going to drop off over time.’ And what we’ve actually seen is it went from 50 to 55, and now it’s at 60. And so we’re not just sustaining it, we’re growing that.”

This is not however expected to last, and Greenberg even admits this himself, “Logic says it will come down at some point, but the fact that it’s continuing to grow and we have the majority of our users connected online has really changed the gaming experience this generation.”

Wonder how high it will go before it starts going back down again. Or if it will just see-saw for a while. Congratulations to Microsoft, either way. That’s none-too-shabby.
