Xii Games - Developer Blog Part IV

You know what? I really love game developer blogs. Why? Because when I’m not being an Adventuress, I’m a computer programmer. Being a computer programmer and growing up in a time where games are new and exciting, I always wanted to do my own little game of some sort. Especially an adventure game. Unfortunately for me, computer programming will only get you so far. When you make games, you have to have something that looks pretty. Oh, and you have to have a good story that people will be intrigued by. And let’s not forget all that coding for the minute stuff such as users clicking on things they can’t pick up and a character going “Oh, I can’t get that”. Do you know how much patience one has to have to do something like that?

Well, I don’t have that much patience. Oh, and I can’t draw. I could probably weave a good tale, but I have no tales that come to mind. My brain is blank.

Still, it is fun to see how real game developers come up with their ideas and the whole process that they have to go through in order to come up with something fans will love and adore.

I was reading through the recent developer diary for a new game called Resonance by xii games and it gave me a lot of insight into what a game developer has to put up with when coming up with a game. All the finding of artists to make things look pretty… coding thousands of lines of code just to make the game run a little smoother. Adding all the dialogue and figuring out where the character can walk and not walk and interact with different objects.

It’s enough to scare me. A lot. But it still intrigues me. Like I said, I love figuring out how someone puts a game together and these articles that xii games does is enough to make any Adventuress happy.

You may also want to take a look at the journal entry if you’re a fan of xii games, because you might get a little story out of an up and coming game. I know I’m exciting to play it. Can’t wait. Keep on keepin’ on xii games!
