This is a software that I’ve used in the past. The older version came bundled with my PowerBook. After I sold my PowerBook I stopped using it though. That’s until I was reading through the Stop Design web site and read the feature on xScope.
xScope has gotten new features since the last time I used it. It has seven features that will help make the designer’s life easier.
1. Dimensions – measure elements on your screen. This is really great when you’re converting your designs to html/css. You can easily do measurements instead of using the ruler, guide features on your design program.
2. Rulers – It’s just like the traditional tool. Only on screen and much better.
3. Screens – This allows you to preview screen real estate. It has pre-defined templates for you to use.
4. Loupe – Perfect tool to see if your designs line up properly. Especially the minute details.
5. Guides – Place guides on screen to get reference for your designs. You can load and save previously established guides.
6. Frames – Create frames on screen for visual layout/reference
7. Crosshair – reports the position of your cursor relative to where it is on screen.
xScope is really a great tool for designers. The dimensions feature alone makes it worth while. It’s made measuring easier for me.
