Yahoo Acquires Maven Networks

Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO),  has acquired Maven Networks, Inc., a leading online video platform provider.  This move is geared towards expanding Yahoo’s consumer video and specially for advertising.   The price?  A cool $160 million.

“Video is projected to be the fastest growing segment of the online ad market, and Maven will significantly help advance Yahoo!’s strategy, expanding the video opportunity for publishers and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness for advertisers. This is a big win for publishers, advertisers, consumers and for Yahoo!,” said Hilary Schneider, EVP, Global Partner Solutions at Yahoo!

Yahoo is on the buying spree.  Just recently, Yahoo bought Foxy Tunes.  With this new acquisition,  I think yahoo would be in a better position to increase their earnings via video monetization services.   I think it is a win-win situation for all parties concerned.
