I was a big user of Firefox before IE7. Now I actually prefer the IE7 interface over Firefox's. There are things I miss in Firefox, but for the most part IE7 gives me everything I need, and the way I want it. Haven't had a problem on Yahoo now for awhile. I'm thinking it was a jacked up ad on their site.

Try running a freeware browser like Firefox. See if you get the same results. If the same thing happens, you will know wheather or not its the browser or a software issue.
