I have and have been wondering the same. I haven’t seen much blogging about it, though. I had started to wonder if I had some local issue.
June 7 — having a problem all day; intermittently being able to access email, get a new blank email, send email, but most of the day, I have not been able to use Hotmail. I was wondering if it was just me!
YES – here’s my report.
As of this week (6/11/07), it is taking DAYS for emails from hotmail domains to reach my yahoo! account. However, hormail’ers say my emails (fr yahoo) almost arrive instantly.
Yahoo just went to unlimited space last week want to say, and my hotmail contacts said some upgrade just happened over there, too, this month as well. I think the two just do not like one another. GAH!
What is being done to resolve, does anyone out there know???!!! So annoying. TG for gmail tho (just have to say it!). ;)
Yes, I love Gmail more and more every day. Did you notice that Yahoo! has embedded Yahoo! Messenger into their email program as well? I’m liking that.
NO I did not see that re YIM – good to know! However I have enough issues with YIM on puters I use (other work-based homemade programs hating that one lol) I normally just stay off it. But I am sure it’s working nicely for most for sure.
TY for the post – I seriously think it’s time to just move it all over to the gmail, tho I’ll see what yahoo “help” says re the hotmail vs yahoo smackdown – I’ll try to remember to post here again if I hear anything more about it for anyone else having this annoyance
btw FYI: for those wanting to not subscribe but to check back here to vent-read up, this thread pops up nicely with a google of “yahoo hotmail problems June 2007″ ;)
I’m getting delayed emails from hotmail as well–it’s been going on for over a week now. Here’s the reponse I got from yahoo. It looks to me as if yahoo knows there’s a problem but thinks it’s hotmail’s fault:

We’ve checked our servers and our mail systems appear to be working at

By now i have over 30 e-mails on my account but i can not open them. What is the problem with yahoo? They are claiming to be one of the best in the world , but they are rubbish !!!
I will soon change to web.de or GMX because the embarassment of yahoo is toooooooo much.
Imagine you have your owne business and you are earning your income through your e- mal adress you will kill yourself.
I am based in Ghana – West Africa our local internet is very slow and it is not fair – because of slow connection to switch us of. Yahoo should still considering that we are in Africa and everything we do takes a bit longer.

I just wanted to chime in. I, too, have been having problems receiving messages from Hotmail users in my Yahoo account. Messages have sporadically taken north of 24 hours to arrive. This has happened with at least 2 different Hotmail users, for just about a week. The issue is sporadic — sometimes I get a message right away. I e-mailed Yahoo and got the below response:
“Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.
Brian, Yahoo! Customer Care is committed to answering your questions as
quickly and as accurately as possible. Please know that your email is
important to us. Our records show that your question/concern has been
answered in a previous email.
If your specific issue still exists or if you have any other issues or
questions, please reply to this message and we would be happy to help
you further.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mail.

Yeah, I got pretty much the exact same canned reply fr yahoo myself. I basically have switched my hotmail users over to my gmail. Neither hotmail (MSN) nor yahoo seem that interested in rectifying the problem, blaming one another etc., so to that I say the big F em. lol
Seriously tho, the fact two MAJOR players in the freemail market cannot resolve whatever the problem is – after TWO WEEKS NOW – leads me to believe all freemail generally just blows ginormous chunks, and I guess all comes down to we get what we pay for, which is a whole lotta nutin’ honey. ;) Oh wels
I have had 4 people (including potential clients) in the past 2 days tell me that they sent me an email…which I never received. These are not hotmail users. HOW in the world do you get any response/remedy from Yahoo? There is ZERO accountability for my lost business!
Help!!cant access my yahoo mail. My account info is ok, messenger is cool but the most important thing i.e mail, i just cant get access to!
I too cannot log in to Yahoo mail for ovr 24 hours now. I am in China and was beginning to lay blame at the door of the censors, especially since a friend in UK confirmed access to Yahoo mail was OK there. But perhaps it is Yahoo and not the PRC censors.

I haven’t received any emails in my inbox for 48 hours! I’m a business and it is a complete nightmare. I’m still receiving spam of course. No response from the idiots at Yahoo.
Yes, I can’t imagine trying to rely on Yahoo! mail for business needs right now. I’m still amazed at people that are running businesses and don’t have e-mail addresses at their own domains.

One good reason to have more than one e-mail account
All my e-mails to Yahoo addresses seem to fail. Yet Yahoo to Hotmail seem ok. Orange e-mail to Yahoo also fails. Any comments?
Correction to yesterday. Orange to Yahoo works. Hotmail does not.
I have been having the problem of Hotmail not coming through to Yahoo for about 2 weeks and, like others, got no satisfactory response from Yahoo, who don’t really seem to care. I have reluctancly opened up a Hotmail account for people I know have hotmail but there may be others I have given my address to whom I have forgotten. It seems it will never be resolved.
I haven’t been able to send e-mails from Hotmail to Yahoo.co.uk since July 13. Does anybody know what’s going on, and why MS and Yahoo are apparently unable to fix this?

OCTOBER 11, 2007 sms sent through yahoo from my phone shows up blank at the yahoo user I sent the sms to. I have Tmoble service on my phone. other than delayed yahoo sms every so often, this is the first time I’ve encountered this problem on yahoo sms I’ve sent. btw, i continue to receive yahoo sms messages today. It seem that only the ones I send are received as blank messages

I cannot log in to Yahoo even though I use the password they send to me. I have never had anything but frustration with Yahoo. They constantly doubt the fact that I am me. At least today that didn’t happen. There is nowhere that I can find to send a complaint directly to Yahoo. Will someone enlighten me if they can. …. Sonetto
At fiirst i could access my mail but could only view the address and subject but not the message.Now I can’t even get into my mail.Whats up/ Is it only me?
Twice my printer has been activated and prints message not related to me and for unknown people. It has happened when I was on the E Mail and it happened today with no one home but the system was on.
WHY?????
Sounds like you’ve setup your printer to possibly use Internet Printer Sharing or something? Anyone else know if this is possibly what’s happened?
I’m having a problem deleting email, the error I am gettin is “Problem with Webpage, Line 144, Char 27, Error “pm” is unidentified, code “0″, url:http//us.f843.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?”
Is this another Yahoo problem? No settings have been changed on my computer, but every time I launch YIM, it will sign in for two or three seconds and then totally, completely QUIT. I’ve re-installed the application, and this morning I got as far as the Inside Yahoo! page, and then it quit by itself again. Is it just me, or is anyone else having this trouble?
My Spam guard is on but I keep getting the same emails; not blocked by Yahoo even though I have checked block addresses. What’s up with that? No use to have it on if it doesn’t work.
