Yahoo’s Losing it’s Talent
An interesting article today on The Marker, outlines a recent trend of Yahoo losing some of its best and brightest to ambitious upstarts who keep leaving the company for bigger and better companies (Google, Microsoft, InterActiveCorp & TimeWarner). According to the article, the most recent executives to leave the ship are senior vice president Bill Demas and Will Johnson of YPN, who will depart at the end of November. Along with that, Yahoo lost it’s vice president of shopping, and it’s vice president of its developer network over the last summer.
The reason? The article quotes some analysts who tend to think that the recent internet boom and over $6.2 billion in VC funding awarded to new startups only increases the urge for one to go “solo” or join a current startup.
My question is how come these guys leave Yahoo, while others stay with their companies rather than taking on new ventures?
