Yang, Woods to Renew Rivalry in Shanghai

It took a while, but it seems like we finally found a worthy adversary on tour for Tiger Woods.  Unfortunately for Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington and the rest, they’ve taken a backseat to Y.E. Yang, the 37-year-old South Korean who has bested Tiger Woods twice now, first at the 2006 HSBC Champions event, and more recently at the 2009 PGA Championship.  Yang will try to make it three-for-three at the 2009 version of the HSBC Champions, which takes place in Shanghai this coming November.

Along with Yang and Woods, the tournament also boasts the defending champion Sergio Garcia, and 2007 winner Phil Mickelson.  Add to that the inclusion of Paul Casey, Henrik Stenson, Geoff Ogilvy and Stewart Cink, the 2009 HSBC Champions will feature seven of the top ten players in the world.

The tournament takes place November 5-8 at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai.
