Are you as excited about me about Toronto Tech Week?
Haven’t heard about it yet? It’s an initiative by the cash-strapped, revenue-starved city of Toronto to jump-start economic activity by embracing a bunch of tech events, and trying to promote it as a cohesive, integrated program. From a marketing perspective, the city wants to position Tech Week like the Toronto International Film Festival puts the spotlight on the city for a week or so – without, of course, the glamour, glitz and beautiful people. :)
By design or luck, there’s a bunch of tech event happening the week of May 28, including the mesh conference (of which I’m one of the organizers), the Canadian New Media Awards and the first Canadian Municipal Wireless Applications Conference. Dave Forde, the chair of Techweek.to, said the goal is to “provide an annual week-long forum for everyone to exhibit, display and demonstrate technology and innovation in all of its forms and applications.”

just missed the post-secondary ticket sale at $25 for mesh
was looking forward to attending
