The latest report has the Hoosiers facing new allegations that the school failed to monitor its men’s basketball program, and was told by the NCAA that Indiana has to wait until Sept. 26 to respond to a report that was originally due out today. It’s the fifth major allegation by the NCAA.
The NCAA infractions committee is still trying to finalize a report on former coach Kelvin Sampson, who is accused of making illegal phone calls to potential recruits.
“The University was fully prepared to meet its deadline established by the NCAA in its response to the failure to monitor allegation,” athletic director Rick Greenspan said in a statement. “However, based upon the September 16 letter from the NCAA Committee on Infractions, we will work on final edits and submit on the new date required.”
If found guilty, Indiana could face major penalties for the first time since 1960.
Somewhere out there Bobby Knight is smiling.
