You can’t touch this…

I couldn’t resist writing a bit about this.
It seems that former pop star MC Hammer has turned startup business owner by becoming the the co-founder and chief strategy officer (whatever that is…) of DanceJam.com.
According to several published reports, the website, scheduled to debut in mid-January, will try to upstage YouTube and become the Internet’s hub for sharing and watching dance videos. DanceJam then hopes to make money by grabbing a piece of the rapidly growing Internet advertising market, which is expected to rake in $27.5 billion in 2008.
Although Hammer (aka Stanley Burrell) is no newbie to being an entrepreneur. He began recording songs with financial help from a few Oakland Athletics, where he once worked as a ball boy. His nickname came from his resemblance to the former home run king, Hammerin’ Hank Aaron. Without the support of a major music label, Hammer built a loyal fan base by hitting the streets and selling his early recordings out of a car.
So in celebration, I leave you with this classic:

As long as he’s over his old dance moves, DanceJam.com seems like an excellent niche for MC Hammer. :-) However, upstaging YouTube will not be so easy.
That’s new information! I didn’t really know MC Hammer’s background as a hard worker. All I know of him is his most popular song. A lot of people might raise skeptical eyebrows at this DanceJam project but it just might take off since it has a niche market.
Niche market? I just don’t see how this can work. The name is DanceJam. That alone makes me sick. He said he was inspired my YouTube. HOW is this any different? HOW?
