You Complete Me

Alright, alright, it’s a cheesy title. It got your attention didn’t it?!?
iTunes has just introduced a Complete My Album feature. You can now buy the whole album of a single/s that you own for a discounted price. Hmmm.. did I just confuse you? Here’s how it goes. Say for example I bought Daughtry’s “Home” single for 99 cents. I listened to it, loved it, realized I like Daughtry enough to buy the whole album. In the past I’d have to buy the entire album even if I had the single “Home” already and pay the full price of the album, which is $9.99. With the Complete My Album feature, if I bought “Home” in the last 180 days, I’m entitled to a 99 cent discount on the Daughtry album. So I can now buy the album for 9 bucks. That’s awesome… Coz not only do I get a discount, I also don’t have double songs.
It’s good that Apple is introducing features such as this. It does make a lot of sense for consumers. It will also lessen the barriers as to why people don’t eventually buy the complete albums. This will be a good incentive. But please, please Apple the feature I really want to see is the ability to redownload songs that I’ve already bought. Similar to Audible.
