You Need To Be More Frugal. Period.
– New Way To Save On Swiffer Mop Refills Proves You Sometimes Have to Go With The Flow –
Like a lot of us, Shelly Weidner was trying to find ways to save money in these tough times. She wanted to pad her savings account while, at the same time, putting a tamp on expenses.
Shelly loved her Swiffer Wet Jet mop but she wondered if there wasn’t a way to save money on the customized refills the mop required.
She tried attaching a dish cloth to the mop apparatus with rubber bands but, ultimately, this left her feeling unhappy and mildly depressed with the results.
Shelly wrestled with the problem month after month, but eventually discovered a creative solution to her dilemma.
Spotting a partially opened bag of maxi-pads under the sink in her bathroom, Shelly figured she could use the pads in place of the pricey Swiffer refills.
And, son of a gun, darned if it didn’t work like chocolate and a few kind words.
“Sanitary napkins with or without wings will work on the Swiffer mop,” Shelly reports, “They are the right size and have adhesive on the back… If you get the generic brand at the dollar store, you are set for at least six months for less than five dollars.”
Great news for all you cheapskates out there. Five dollars is a cost easily absorbed in any budget. It’s no-strings-attached way of saving money for other items while, at the same time, providing you with a convenient excuse if your date happens to glance into your handbag.
“Oh, those? They’re just just a couple of Swiffer refills in case I need to clean up something.”
Shelly is a seventh generation penny-pincher who manages to stay free of debt and always carries cash instead of using credit cards like her friends.
To add further credence to her claim that the maxi-pads work, Shelly points out, “I was in the Navy for 22 years, so I know how to swab a deck.”
In case you were wondering, Shelly got an honorable discharge after attending Alabama University.
