Young Entrepreneurs Can Create Better Businesses

That’s right, I said it.  Young Entrepreneurs have the ability to create better businesses than the older generation.  Do we have more wisdom?  Probably not.  Do we have more business experience?  Eh, not really.  In this age, businesses are driven, displayed, marketed, and sometimes even conducted on the internet.  With the younger generation growing up on the internet, who will come out ahead when trying to come up with the next savvy idea?  The people who know how to effectively use it – that’s who.  Fifteen years ago, it took word-of-mouth, several tanks of gas, a phone book, and a lot of charisma to market a product to investors.  Now you just need a domain, a host, and a good idea.  The younger generation has the online experience to make it work.

Why is this important?  Recently, CNN posted up an article outlining some sales figures for today:

By 2 p.m. ET, more than 300 retailing Web sites tracked by Internet monitoring firm Akamai were drawing 4.6 million visitors per minute – a three-year record for most traffic in a single day to retail Web sites.

Akamai said that its Net Usage Index – which monitors North American visitors to sites such as jcpenney.com, Bestbuy.com and Circuitcity.com – said traffic was up more than 80 percent compared to a normal Monday.

In addition, ComScore Networks estimates that Cyber Monday sales will surpass $700 million, which would make it the heaviest online spending day on record.

So this is breaking all one-day online sales records.  There’s more money being spent online now than ever before!  There is a market for everything and a dollar for everyone.  Where do you fit in this picture?  For that matter… where should I fit in this picture?

Oh… and +10 points to anyone who can guess every movie and game at the top!
