Your 74th Heisman Winner: Sam Bradford

This year, the Heisman race was outstanding. We had three awesome candidates, all of whom can be proud of their accomplishments. In the end, Sam Bradford won the most votes.
Bradford thanked “everyone in his life,” starting with God, and then thanking his coaches, his fellow Oklahoma players, OU’s president and AD, his friends (who apparently refuse to talk to him about football), the Heisman trophy committee, and the past winners who came out to the event.
Bradford ended with 1,726 votes to Colt McCoy’s 1,604, and Tim Tebow’s 1,575. As suspected, Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree were fourth and fifth, but there really was a large gap in points between Harrell and Tebow. Interestingly enough, this is the second year in a row that the Heisman winner was wearing a cast and also the second year in a row that a sophomore won the award. Also interesting – Tebow got the most first place votes, but third in the total (definitely an abnormality – I guess you either love him or hate him).
Congrats to all of the finalists, though. You could see the look of disappointment on McCoy’s and Tebow’s faces, but you can also tell that they believe that Bradford deserved this honor as much as they did.
