One of the best marketing tools for a business is Word Of Mouth (WOM) marketing which happens when consumers pass on news about your products or services, whether good or bad. Preference is that only good WOM marketing is shared so that your business can grow from the consumer publicity. A clear definition provided by WOMMA.org states that….
Word of Mouth Marketing: Giving people a reason to talk about your products and services, and making it easier for that conversation to take place. It is the art and science of building active, mutually beneficial consumer-to-consumer and consumer-to-marketer communications.
WOM marketing not only happens when you are talking to someone but it can also happen when you are sharing information via social media websites. For those who help you with your WOM marketing plan, let’s called them WOMMers. There are many ways that you can use WOM marketing and below are a few examples:
- Ask your current and past clients to share your business information with those that they are connected with.
- Develop different message samples and emails that you give your WOMMers access to so that they can become evangelist for your business.
- If you have an opportunity to connect with experts from your industry so that you can share information with them about your business, take the opportunity.
- If you have a new product or service, try it out on Alpha and Beta testers first so that you can get early feedback from them and also testimonials to put on your website.
Below is a video that shares great advice from Stephanie Leffler and Ryan Blair who take about the bonus of having a WOM marketing plan that is built into your product or service marketing plan.
