This week I wrote on the importance of knowing what your credit rating record says about you. Some interesting questions and tips were sent in about this. Thanks to those who contributed, it makes for good reading. http://www.bizzia.com/the-credit-crunch-and-how-to-survive-it/

Some important things to remember about your credit rating are:

1.It’s not only the banks who are interested in this, although they will check when you apply for an account or credit card.

2.Employment agengies may often do a check on you without your knowledge.

3. Estate agencies can do the same, they are working for the client.

4. The company that lists your credit rating can be approached, you can negotiate to get bad record cleaned up after a few years when you have paid the debt and can prove it.

5. Not anyone can check your rating, as they need to have a contract with the rating agency, but its still worth knowing. Read yours here    http://www.myfico.com/

Great points! Others who may look at your credit score: insurance companies and landlords.
