If you own a small business, your best marketing tool can be your past customers. If you make a positive impression on them, then they will probably let their friends know. But look out, the opposite is also true! If they had a bad experience will they probably let even more people know about it.
With the speed of social media these days your customers are even more likely to sing your companies praises to a large audience if they’re pleased with your product or service. Word of mouth marketing can be a powerful tool. The best part is it’s free!

How can you guarantee your customers will be singing the praises of your small business?
- Go above and beyond on customer service to make sure your customer is satisfied with the transaction.
- Do more than what you said you would do, and exceed your customers expectation.
- Think about what kind of service you would like if you were the customer, and give your customer more.
- Stay in contact with your customer after the sale. Don’t be bothersome or pushy, but let them know you genuinely care how the product or service is working out for them.
- Give your customers that little extra something, a bonus gift or service. It doesn’t have to be much, just a small token of your appreciation.
Your current customers are your best marketing tool for getting new customers. If you treat them well they will shout it from the rooftops, if you treat them poorly, they will shout it even louder!

I just retweeted this post. I agree completely.
Thanks Robyn!
This is absolutely true. Business owners still have a hard time with understanding that it’s about the customer and what they want. If satisfy that need in a top notch manner, you have a customer for life.
