You’re Getting A Dell Factory, Dude
In Effort to Cut Costs Company Announces Plans to Sell Factories, Former Ad Pitchman Slacker Steve
Dell Computers today announced the company will be selling a number of factories around the world in an effort to cut costs. Dell officials later qualified the “around the world” description saying, “Okay, so most of the factories are in the U.S.”
The company said, for the right price, it would also include former ad pitchman Ben “Slacker Steve” Curtis. Steve comes with his own bag of weed, so buyers are urged to consult local regulations before purchasing.
Dell is looking to cut costs by selling its U.S. factories and hiring first-year accounting majors and cooking school graduates who’ve known for the past 15 years it’s cheaper to manufacture stuff overseas.
Analysts warn that agreements with local governments could make selling certain factories more difficult. An MSNBC report notes: “Dell’s North Carolina plant, for example, received several million dollars of state and local tax incentives that are contingent on the factory meeting certain employment and local-investment goals by 2015.”
Reached by phone at his foreclosed house, a North Carolina taxpayer said wearily, “Go ahead. Add it to my tab…”
