YouTube is making a move to add more full-length TV shows and movies to its website. Now available at YouTube.com/shows are a number of full-length options brought to you by a number of different studios including Lions Gate, CBS, National Geographic, Discovery and Sony.

While other video services on the internet have concentrated on full-length programs, YouTube has been known for its shorter, user uploaded videos. Google, the parent company of YouTube, obviously is looking at full-length programs as a way to bring more advertising potential to their wildly popular video website.

Google purchase YouTube in 2006 for a figure reported to be close to $1.8 billion. While YouTube still loses money on a daily basis for Google, expect to see moves like this from YouTube as Google figures out how to monetize the video site.

To further monetize YouTube, Google recently unveiled Google TV Ads Online. This service will allow advertisers to target online users via online videos.
