YouTube Confirms Pre- and Post-Roll Ads

Earlier this month, Variety reported that YouTube users will have the option to share revenue on pre- or post-roll ads on their videos. Suzie Reider, Head of Advertising Sales at YouTube, says both ad forms could be running as early as this summer.

“We’re looking at executions like a very quick little intro preceding a video, then the video, then a commercial execution on the backside of the content,” Ms. Reider said.

Ms. Reider even writes a death note for TV advertising, postdated 3-4 years:

Asked how long it will take for YouTube to generate major revenues―in the billions―to rival television and other media, Ms. Reider, “It’ll take us three or four years, because none of us working in this area want to recreate the TV model. We’re not looking for 30-second commercial spots.”

If the ads roll out this summer, deserving YouTube video creators might find themselves flush with extra cash for the Holidays. :)
