YouTube Runs Inline and Postroll Ads

YouTube Inline Ad

Taking a hint from BriteFlic, YouTube now runs inline and postroll static ads, both of which click through to a video ad overlay. Conveniently enough, postrolls are indicated by the yellow portion at the end of the time bar.

The ads seem geotargeted — I’m in the Philippines right now, and I can’t see them from here. They’re not available in embeds either. Revenue from these ads will probably factor into YouTube’s expanding rev-share program — but if YouTube really wants these ads to virally make money, they should go into embeds. Props to YouTube for not using icky prerolls like NBC does.
