YouTube Sued (Again)

May 7, 2007 by Gilad

As they plan on start sharing profits with users who post stolen content on their site, YouTube is facing a rather large suit again. This time it is the FA Premiere League (the English Football Association) who is pursuing a suit for the theft of stolen content.

The league claims that Google knew about theft but did nothing to stop it and is suing for unspecified damages.

The lawsuit seeks class action status and asks for a disgorgement of profits made by the alleged actions, as well as unspecified damages.

It claims YouTube had consciously encouraged people to view content on its site in order to raise its profile, violating the material’s commercial value.
