Zac Efron Hosts Saturday Night Live

High School Musical star, Zac Efron, hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and I really wasn’t expecting much.  I must shamefully admit to having seen all three HSM movies and I liked him but I just don’t know what he can do beyond musicals.  It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to his upcoming movie 17 Again.

Anyway, he was actually pretty funny on the show.  There were a couple skits that stood out, however.  One included Efron, Andy Samberg and Fred Armisen.  In the skit, they were making a commercial where Efron and Samberg were hungry teens and Armisen played Efron’s mother.  The commercial went horribly wrong when the mother misinterprets how to deliver her lines and Efron ends up smacked in the face a number of times.  It was pretty funny.

In another skit, he played a German exchange student who is horrified by a fellow Science Fair participant (played by Kristen Wiig).  One moment in the segment actually made the audience gasp.  Watch the clip here (to see more videos, visit the NBC website).
