Apple iPhone at MWSF 2007 and First Impressions

Here’s a short video of the new Apple iPhone, the most anticipated new device from Apple that marks its entry into the “more than just computers” area. With Mac OS X as probably the most user friendly user interface in the world (easy Linux folk, easy…) Steve Jobs decided to port it to all their other non-Mac products beginning with the iPhone.

apple-iphone.jpgThe iPhone is a GSM phone, small capacity video iPod and wireless browser all pulled into one device using a full touch screen technology. So yeah, Apple decided to go for the full virtual display rather than the traditional hardware keys. This move isn’t surprising for next generation devices, especially for phones because the trend has always led to virtual is always better than real. Of course, you would have to be a tad more careful with this thing as the screen occupies the entire device’s real estate! Ahh the screen protector market shall boom.

What is interesting to note is that Apple is truly taking a huge leap into risky waters – depending on how you look at it. This device practically kills off the iPod nano line (the latest iteration sucked a$$ anyway) and continues the iPod brand by integrating it into a phone. Even the permalink structure proves this — http://www.apple.com/iphone/ipod/. Is the iPod now just a software service?

  2. [...] I’ve written about my first impressions on the Apple iPhone here. I’m actually surprised that Apple didn’t bother to change the name in their usual last minute spasm nomenclature spasm. [...]

  3. [...] Cellfone9’s self-proclaimed Supreme Arch-Monarch Jayvee Fernandez has the lowdown on this baby at “Apple iPhone at MwSF 2007 and first impressions“. But then he says something that made me raise an eyebrow at this “iPhone roundup” so I don’t know. What do you think, ‘Mr. Bean’, should I get one? When is this available in the Philippines? [...]
