BlackBerry FaceBook App issues?

October 28, 2007 by Jayvee Fernandez

Aaron Brazell reports some battery anomalies after installing the FaceBook application for his BlackBerry. Since then, I haven’t had the guts to install the application to my Pearl, especially since I’m currently in transit from a trip. Scary. The application allegedly messes around with the charging cycles. After deleting the app, his phone’s battery status rose from 10% to 15%.

Have any of you Berry users experienced similar impediments with the FaceBook application?

  1. I have yet to notice any significant increased power consumption due to the Facebook App. I will start monitoring it.

I have noticed a very large increase in my battery usage. I have a blackberry program that tells you the exact amount of battery percentage. Normally around 6pm I will have roughly 75% remaining. It is now 12:00pm and I have 77%, this leads me to believe the application is using my battery way to much.

It is true. My Blackberry Storm started using too much battery after I installed Facebook. I uninstalled it and battery consumption went back to normal. Facebook application, periodically looks for updates for your account and is setup to alert you. There is no way you can disable that in Facebook.
