Cellphones are indeed lifesavers

I read an entry on Textually about a man who’s life was saved after his cellphone slowed a bullet that penetrated his chest. This tells us a lot of things about how mobile phones can be alternatively marketed – albeit in a gruesome way. The last thing you’d want to see in a phone product catalog is “this phone is made from a special carbon fiber material that stops bullets from entering your person.”
The only tech product I know that has the word bulletproof in it is the Apple iBook, which is made from bulletproof plastic.
But then again, innovations in consumer products are only brought about by consumer demand. Thankfully, there has been no response, to my knowledge, of focus group discussions where the phone manufacturer reports a high demand for “bullet proof mobile phones for the active lifestyle.”
