iBall by Oregon Scientific

For the price of $299.00 you can do a double affirmative on taking your music anywhere, once again, twice over.

The iBall, manufactured by Oregon Scientific is a pretty well-rounded (yeah, pun intended!!) speaker set that allows you to have the iPod and the speakers in different locations.

I can leave my iPod in the room and carry the iBall into the bathroom so i can sing along to Ernie’s Rubber Ducky with choreography and all.

What really caught my attention though is that the iBall also comes with an auxiliary stereo line-in plug which you can use to attach an additional audio source. You can also combine this with your home theatre set up because it also has S-Video and AV stereo line out. So that gives you a cheap alternative to surround sound or you can go for the whole sound package by attaching it to your already ultra cool set-up at home.

Rubber Ducky in 5.1. Oooh. (At least that’s how I think it will work)

Ultimate question asked: So if the iBall is wireless, won’t the sound quality be compromised?

Ultimate answer given: No. The iBall achieves sound quality somewhat comparable with a BOSE Sound Dock provided that it is within 30 meters of the base station.

iBall’s unique design reflects individuality – nothing is typical here. Roundly shaped with an 8-inch diameter, the iBall is designed to be a portable wireless speaker for the Apple iPod® generation, even iPod nano! The iBall’s transmitter base offers three functions: synchronizing the iPod with the computer, charging the iPod, and broadcasting music wirelessly.

This product is not to be mistaken for the GEIL iBall!

  1. [...] Yowza! This Brando guy keeps on coming up with pretty ingenious products every now and then. His latest is the Brando Walkman music dock, which is actually a super ultra high tech version of the original W800i speaker cradle (shown below). Frankly, it reminds me of the iBallby Oregon Scientific for your iPod. [...]
