iPhone: Midas Touch or Double Edged Sword?

If you dig deep into this article, you’ll see how Apple is truly changing the face of competition in the mobile industry. a highly coveted product — the iPhone being sold exclusively by one telco. It;s almost like the Midas Touch for AT&T but the truth is, though the iPhone may work as planned because of the hardware, can AT&T truly deliver?
“Apple has stolen the march, and in the process has recast AT&T from hero to villain,” Moffett says. “At Apple’s June developer conference in San Francisco, where Apple unveiled its new [iPhone 3GS], AT&T was roundly jeered at every mention by the more than 5,000 application developers in attendance… even Apple itself seemed uncomfortable talking about its U.S. partner.” [source]

And what can Apple do, but shy away a bit from even mentioning this. Apparently bandwidth does not come cheap. All these telcos belong to something like an exclusive gentlemen’s club. And what they all have in common is that by some form or relation, they hold the iPhone in their respective countries.
Truth is, the iPhone is only going to get better — and so much better that the rate of improvement is going to go top the bandwidth that telcos usually give. The public will want more.
