Nokia 7370 review

January 31, 2006 by Jayvee Fernandez

I spent a day fiddling with the Nokia 7370 fashion phone, one of the latter releases of Nokia for this year.

Form Factor
Does the 7370 spell F-A-S-H-I-O-N? We’ll see. Copying the swivel design from Sony Ericsson, the 7370 can swivel from either side to 180 degrees. You can’t make the phone do a full 360 though. The keypad is pretty sturdy and it was enough satisfaction that the phone didn’t feel cheap and rickety.

Features
Nokia could have done some work on the 1.3MP camera. The 7370 lacks the “amour” that I was expecting when it came to multimedia. In natural light the phone fares like most cameraphones – decent but nothing amazing. At low light the camera gives off a bluish hue that makes the pictures taken look monochrome.

On the plus side, videos can reach a maximum of 4:10 minutes. There is no room for expandable memory, sadly.

Bottomline
I’m a little torn. This phone has the bare necessities for the tech troubadour – Bluetooth, megapixel-class camera and a decent video recorder with sound. However, since this is a fashion phone, I’m well expecting the form factor to make up for most of the flaws. Wait, let’s not call them flaws since there really are none in that sense. Let’s just say they cater to a different market of emerging techies who are still afraid to take the geek plunge.

how can i use my Nokia 7370 with Macintosh’s isync?
    mac Os panther.

  3. Mark says:

Not supported by Apple’s iSync in OS X.. very annoyed about that.

The phone looks cool but the battery life sucks. I also seem to flip it open and end up with the phone keypad upside down.. not very intuitive design. Very disappointed. Nokia 6360 was better.. lost that in the back of a cab. Grr.

i love the phone, but i’ve had it for 5 months now, and i seem to be having this problem. when i get a call i will answer it by swiveling it open and SOMETIMES it just shuts off. i can turn it on right away without any problem, but i’m afraid one day it just won’t turn on. it doesn’t happen that often, but it happens and it has happened more than a few times. was wondering if anyone has the same problem? let me know…
    thx!!!

  5. Racca says:

I love this phone as well! But, I too, have the same problem. My phone is brand new, but it turns off automatically when I swivel it open or even in the middle of text messaging. I think maybe there is a problem with the battery??? Does anyone else have this problem? Please let me know…

  6. Leo says:

I’ve just ordered a 7370 from Foneplanet.com and it should have arrived today (Wednesday). I ring them and they say they have had a recall and will send me a new one by Friday. To quote them, the recall problem is that the phone can switch itself off for no reason. I thought they were making excuses but reading above makes me wonder??

  7. kevin says:

I have the same issue with the phone!!! I have it for about a year now and it started acting up about 2mnts after I got it. I found out that occasionally taking out my battery and just repositioning it helps for a bit but then it starts shutting itself of again later. If anyone finds another way of fixing it let me know please!!! The battery repositioning/blowing trick =) makes it better for a bit =)

  10. Donna says:

I’m having problems with my 7370, I’ve bought it about maybe 6 months ago and seen to be having problems with it. Right now, I can’t seem to turn the phone on, no matter how much I charged it. Do you think it’s because of the battery, or something wrong with the phone or just the USB charger? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Sin embargo, como es un celular a la moda, bien esperaba que el factor de forma tenga la mayoría de las cosas malas. Esperen, no las llamemos cosas malas ya que ninguna es en ese sentido.
