Nokia N91 sneak peek

I had lunch with some of the local Nokia dudes today. Part of the special appetizer apart from the 5 plates of sushi was that I got to actually hold the Nokia N91 – dubbed the 4GB music phone that can hold more than just music.
Lovely. Absolutely lovely. The pictures we see off the Internet definitely don’t do any justice to the actual working unit. Similar to how people look 10 pounds bigger behind the camera, the N91 is actually quite small and compact – and yeah, light.
I only had a few minutes to play with the phone (I didn’t want to be rude and ignore the food and good conversation), so most of my observations were skin deep.
1. It’s good they included a 3.5mm jack because the speakers aren’t that great – just like how any other phone would have it. So it’s all good.
2. The bottom half of the phone containing the music controls slides down to reveal the keypad. I loved it – both the keypad and sliding mechanism were so well integrated, neither feel flimsy at all.
3. It’s light and compact! Wasn’t expecting this at all, even if Nokia claimed that the 4GB hard drive didn’t weigh a thing. It feels good to hold the N91.
There’s just one thing though – with the way we viciously treat our phones, I’m wondering exactly how strong they made that hard drive. I mean, it spins and all, right?

i love trackbacks.
