Plaxo address book backup

“Holy s#!t! I accidentally erased my phonebook!!” Ever said this before? Well, I can relate very well. Losing 500+ contacts in one blow can be more than frustrating. It’s basically kissing your digital life goodbye. Long have I searched for the best backup solution in the world for my address book: I tried backing up my MS Outlook data which turned out to be more trouble than benefit. I tried exporting my Mac Address book and saving them as vCards. Heck, I dumped the whole digital addy book and went for good ol’ pen and paper. That was until I found Plaxo.

I’ve been using Plaxo for Windows for about two years now. It has proven to be the best solution for backing up and updating contacts. See, what it does is sync your MS Outlook’s address book with an online server. Whenever you change a bit of data, or whenever a friend using Plaxo does the same, you promptly receive an email that not only announces the change, but also changes the item in your address book! It’s OMGWTFFABULOUS!

Thus if you have a PDA or cellphone that syncs with your PC, it will be so much easier updating and backing up using Plaxo. All you need to do is use MS Outlook, instead of the device’s proprietary desktop application.

If you want to shortcut your way to backing up your phone without a desktop conduit, you can! Plaxo has released a relatively new service that allows access to your online phone book via WAP. Check it out here. That’s $49.95 worth spending right there.

Jayvee’s Note: Plaxo is also available for the Mac, finally! But you will have to use Mozilla Thunderbird (not the beta) to successfully integrate the plug-in. Happy syncing!

When ever I forward my email, I cannot find my plaxo addresses(my address book) I find that rediculous as I have to remember all the names in my book.

    Can you help me?

  2. Ruth / Eugene Goldman says:

hopefully, I do not have to wait too long for an answer to my above question!

  3. Ruth / Eugene Goldman says:

Actually, with all the trouble I’m having, what good is plaxo to me?

  4. Ruth / Eugene Goldman says:

What do you mean by awaiting moderation? I am a 73 year old lady, whom is quite intelligent, and I do not understand what you mean

  5. Ruth / Eugene Goldman says:

You still haven’t given me any answers. Again I say what good is plaxo. Please do not tell me anymore, that everything I say is awaiting moderation, when you can’t even tell me what awaiting moderation is?

  6. Jayvee says:

what type of email are you using? there’s usually an auto complete feature for email services like GMail.
